叶う
Kanau (To Come True)
My graduation work from Kyoto University of the Arts.
Under the theme of calligraphy and design, I set out to create a work that brings together the aesthetic sensibility of cosmetics and the beauty inherent in calligraphy. On the cosmetics case produced and sold by my company, I wanted to express a single kanji that conveys the image of the product. The chosen character is 叶 (kanau), “to come true,” carrying the message that these cosmetics help one's wishes come true. The design was conceived in the Bokushō style, as a band of ink wrapping around the entire package.
