交織1
Kōshoku I (Interwoven)
Exhibited at the 2024 Miyamura Gen School Exhibition.
“Taking the single letter ‘F’ as my point of departure, I infused this work with a view of life captured in the Japanese proverb, ‘Fortune and misfortune are twisted together like the strands of a rope.’ The intersecting lines are threads that symbolize life. Some carry the colors of hardship and trial; others shine with happiness and fulfillment. It is within the pattern they weave together that the true beauty and depth of life reside. There is hope even in adversity, and new challenges await even in happiness. From this interlacing, a pattern unique to each life is born. With this in mind, I titled the work Kōshoku — ‘Interwoven.’”
Artists are by no means expected to wear kimono at the exhibition, but I chose to attend in kimono to match the title, Interwoven.
This work has also appeared as a title image and on part of my dermatology clinic's website, and it is to be displayed at the clinic.
Daily work and life bring many hardships, yet art carries me to another world and brings richness to my days. Creating a work involves real labor pains until it is complete, but being able to show it at an exhibition brings a deep sense of accomplishment. I hope to keep creating, step by step.
