交織

Kōshoku (Interwoven)

Taking the single letter ‘F’ as my point of departure, I infused this work with a view of life captured in the Japanese proverb, ‘Fortune and misfortune are twisted together like the strands of a rope.’ The intersecting lines are threads that symbolize life. Some carry the colors of hardship and trial; others shine with happiness and fulfillment. It is within the pattern they weave together that the true beauty and depth of life reside. There is hope even in adversity, and new challenges await even in happiness. From this interlacing, a pattern unique to each life is born. With this in mind, I titled the work Kōshoku — ‘Interwoven.’
